Now On Azuki AND in Print!: Our Aimless Nights (Review)
A slow burn romance manga series. OUR AIMLESS NIGHT, has gained such a rise of fan that there is a now print copy to enjoy beyond the Azuki website,. What did this quiet but spunky romance manga do to achieve such a growth from digital to print?
The answer is to pick up a copy and enjoy during the darket and quietest hours of the day or night. A certain point in time that feels stills. Where this point becomes a pocket time for quiet conversations and a rich atmosphere to blossoming love.
OUR AIMLESS NIGHT's a slow burn romance between two high school kids. During school hours, Chika is center of attention as the bubbly student in the class. While Waya sits quietly by watching from the side. It seems that there is no reason for these two to ever meet. And yet they do and continue to do so on Wednesday nights after Waya’s night shift at the convenience store.
The awkwardness of the days conversation, embarrassment over societal missteps, or misuderstandings seem work itself out during this particularly sweet spot of time after Waya’s shift. As long as stay talking in the night, they do not have to worry about judging eyes or the mundane duties of a high school student. A particularly sweet spot of time for a pair of teenagers slowly but surely falling in love. Gestures of care that become more heightened and meaningful under the beams of fluorescent lights. Tokens of thoughts can be shared.
They may share the same classroom they occupy two different spaces within the school circles. The more Waya stayed quiet, the less people approached. him. It was with Chika’s happy energy that he able to slowly come out. The confidence that Waya seems to grow within himself may also stem from his time as a convenience workers. His time would be spent learning to observe customers and their behavior from behind the counter. This honed observation would have been carried to behind his desk chair, discreetly watching Chika. It doesn’t take long to pluck Waya from obscurity and it was from his own doing.
It’s a very sweet seinen comic ( Japanese manga work targeted towards young adults ,15 40yrs). Just enough and spunk to keep the romance from being too saccharine. There is also alot of deep thoughts about relationships between themselves and others. It’s not all serious and deep, there are definitely some moments that will get the heart racing!
The print edition of OUR AIMLESS NIGHTS is a team effort between Azuki (digital comics platform) and Ink Pop ( a line from Random House Graphics).. The print has been released in paperwork and hardcover this summer 2026. Ink Pop will handle the printing with the help pf Azuki’s translation and lettering. The project is being overseen by Azuki, Futabasha, and author Koumori.
Ink Pop is a new line for manga, manhwa, and webtoons for kids and teens from Random House Graphic, an imprint of Random House Children's Books.
