Young Magazine Available in English and Free

During Anime NYC 2025, Azuki announced that the company has added Kodansha’s Young Magazine on the Azuki platform.

Young Magazine is a manga magazine published by Kodansha. For 45 years, this Japanese publication was only available in Japanese, so English readers have missed out on seinan manga. As an English reader, the term seinan manga has now entered the vocabulary.

Manga is open for all to read but certain manga are directed to specific reader audiences. These targeted audiences have names and descriptions. The most common and familiar are:

  • shonen manga - aimed at adolescent boys

  • shojo manga - aimed at adolescent girls and young women

  • josei manga- aimed at adult women.

Seinan manga is aimed at young men. These manga titles are known to be more gritty, usually in science fiction settings, and often challenging society ideals and structure.

Once again, anyone can read any manga they want. The categories just give an idea of the vibe and kind of stories to expect. There is no really clear cut boundaries as the stories may blend several together.

Young Magazine will be offered for free and in English on Azuki’s digital platform and apps. This is a special addition to celebrate being published for 45 years. It’s whopping thick celebration as the tome is over a thousand pages of manga written by emerging and famous authors.

Readers will also be able to vote for their favorite titles by November 10., 2025. The top five of those winners will have their mangas serialized in English. This is a great way to learn about new manga and infuse more of the manga you like to read to the world.
