LA Asian Pacific Film Festival Surprise Addition: THE FAREWELL

The LA Asian Pacific Film Festival is well under way in its 35th year of showcasing Asian American cinematic talents. The schedule is fulled to the brim full of narrative films, documentaries, and shorts. Just to add even more to this already full plate, it was announced that THE FAREWELL will be showcasing at the film festival on May 8th at 7:30 pm at the Regal LA Live.

The movie is based on an actual lie. Awkafina stars as Billie who is Chinese Born but US Raised. She returns to China to learn that Nai-Nai, the family matriach has a short time left to live. And the whole family has decided not to tell her. Using the guise of a rushed marriahe, family members begin to form around Billie.

The movie touches upon family, dealing with the dying, and remembering your roots. So be prepared for tears!
