Strange 80's 2

Strange 80's 2

After some major life changes, I’m playing a bit of catch up. Out of the many events that I attended on behalf of Fangirl Nation, the one that stands out the most is the Strange 80’s 2 concert in October.

The full highlight review can be seen HERE at Fangirl Nation. Strange 80’s was a the second annual concert hosted by Charity bomb to bring musicians together on stage for charity. The event brought together random musical legends to cover 80s song. It created a night of absolute random musical experience. There was the Chris Patrick (N*Sync) singing a Def Leppard song with David Haskins (who played Mr. Belding from Saved By the Bell). Or when I realized that Noodles (Offpring) was playing the theme song from Kung Fury with David Hasselhoff.

As memorable as it was, it did make a for a very long night. It was a pattern of artists collaborating on a song together, then they exit, crew re-arranges the cords, and then the next combo arrives. There was a lot of waiting happening. Not all of the collabs delivered on performance, most were brief, but there were a few moments that made it just awesome. Other than was what was mentioned above, my personal favorite moment was watching Jared (Bowling for Soup) just dominate the mike for 3 songs. His charisma and overall rock attitude was a refreshing in levity and energy.

Strange 80s is a concert series in Los Angeles that will bring together the most unlikely collabs in rock and pop culture to cover 80s music. This event is the project of Charity Bomb. "Charity Bomb's mission is to be a force multiplier for other charities and/or organizations that focus on fundraising for musicians and artists in need.
